At age 12, my parents got divorced and I moved from Riverside, California to Arkansas where I lived with my mom. She was addicted to pain meds and other drugs and didn’t work. So we lived below the poverty line and relied on food stamps, welfare, and W.I.C. Everything I faced at a young age - the good, the bad, and the ugly - taught me valuable lessons, pushed me to new heights, and gave me insights on what it takes to get out of the trenches and become a success.
Fast forward to the cybersecurity world.
I quickly learned it’s a field where people want to be seen as smart! Myself included (embarrassing, I know). But it was costing me growth….personal…professional…financial. And great solutions that could come from others. That’s where I made a conscious choice to change.
It led me to develop this course to address emotional intelligence using a 7-step methodology that I developed based on what worked and what didn't work with my company, Alpine Security. So it incorporates real-life examples and activities that would benefit leaders with high IQ/low EQ staff.
